Poolwerx adds seasoned global industry professional to senior ranks

Billie Pfeiffer

Billie Pfieffer, Director of Franchise Sales

Poolwerx has announced the addition of Billie Pfeiffer to the US operations team as the Director of Franchise Sales. Pfeiffer has previously served as the Director of New Member Sales-Domestic and International at United Aqua Group, as well as working in the swimming pool industry for over 30 years. Cutting her teeth with a small pool builder and service operation, Pfeiffer then jumped to the distribution and manufacturer side of things, launching a global career. She worked with Horner Equipment in Florida in the distribution customer service department.

She moved on to work with Horner’s manufactured products, Autopilot Systems and Lo-Chlor Chemicals, and then moved into an Operations Manager position at CL Marketing, a distributor and manufacturing heavyweight in Calgary, Canada. Her success in Canada led her back to the states in 2012, working out of Arizona and eventually down under to Queensland, Australia in sales manager roles.

After moving back to the states and a director stint at United Aqua Group, Pfeiffer reconnected with John O’Brien, Poolwerx Founder and CEO, whom she met while working in Australia. “I recognized an incredible talent in Billie and was blown away by her knowledge and passion for the industry,” said O’Brien. “We jumped at the chance to work with such an accomplished powerhouse of the trade.”

With Pfeiffer’s appointment as the Director of Franchise Sales, Poolwerx is ramping up its franchise development efforts as the company eyes crossing the 200-store mark and plans to have more than 620 service vans across America in the next five years. Tasked with continuing the US growth of the Poolwerx, she will be focusing on disrupting the status quo by introducing independent businesses to the Poolwerx franchise model which emphasizes employee training, marketing, technology, and proven sales methodologies – typically beyond the reach of independent operators.

“Due to the global pandemic, people are traveling less and investing in their backyards more than ever. I’m excited to be working with Poolwerx to become the go-to brand for everyone’s pool needs – including homeowners and property managers,” said Pfeiffer. “It’s a very promising time for our industry and there is plenty of opportunity to grow an existing independent pool service operation or become a pool entrepreneur.”

She is seeking business owners looking for outside support to grow their retail and service businesses who have been in the industry for years and are looking for a grow-and-exit strategy. The global brand also offers a scalable model wherein franchisees can start with one service van, later open a retail store, and ultimately expand their footprint to multiple retail locations and vehicles. Poolwerx is currently scouting qualified candidates across Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, and the northeast.

The AQUA 100, presented by AQUA Magazine, is an industry-leading competition designed to honor excellence in pool and spa retail. In light of the adversity specialty retailers of all kinds have faced over the past decade — the rise of online shopping, the pressure of a recession and, this past year, the global pandemic — the AQUA 100 honors the diamonds of excellence that have not only survived, but thrived, proving once and for all the spirit of brick-and-mortar businesses will carry on. "To win an independently judged, national contest like the AQUA 100 is a real achievement,” says AQUA Magazine Executive Editor Scott Webb. “It is the highest honor in pool and spa retail." “We couldn’t be prouder of our teams in Dallas, Phoenix, and Jacksonville,” said Chief Operating Officer at Poolwerx, Andrew Kidd. “As a franchise system, it’s our local partners that truly make the difference and exemplify all Poolwerx stands for; top quality pool service at a fair price from a friendly face.” The application process was rigorous, requiring entrants to provide detailed information on company history, customer service, store design, digital presence, marketing and community involvement, complete with supporting documents. Applicants were judged by an independent panel of retail experts. “As a small business owner, I pride myself on viewing customers as more than a transaction. Poolwerx is continuing to grow even in these difficult economic times, both in the U.S. and abroad. Franchise Business Executive reports, "Poolwerx opens 11 stores in 11 months, with conversions and new outlets in the mix. The openings are evidence, says founder and CEO John O’Brien, of the demand for home services. The pool care chain has acquired five independent pool servicing stores across Australia and New Zealand-- in Baulkham Hills in New South Wales, Kings Park and Hampstead Gardens South Australia and another two due to open on New Zealand’s North Island. John O’Brien said “In all of these acquisitions, we’re helping long term industry veterans with their exit strategy. I’m also buoyed to see our existing franchise partners continue to grow their business and open new retail locations, which speaks to the resilience of our business model, even in the midst of a recession. “The home service industry has proven time and time again to be recession-resistant and this has become particularly evident during Covid-19,” O’Brien said.
