New Year, New Pool: How to make your pool look good as new
Do you have a New Year’s Resolution of tidying up your home, or improving the look of your pool? Poolwerx has your back with a list of tips to make your pool look good as new for the new year.
1. Look into Pool Resurfacing
One thing you can do to dramatically change the look of your pool is to resurface it.
Have a plaster pool? If your pool is starting to look and feel a bit rough, it’s probably time to re-plaster. Standard pool plaster can usually last anywhere from 8 to 12 years. After that, you likely need to re-do the plaster. Another option to give your pool a makeover is to upgrade your pool tile. Whether you’re looking for a contemporary blue glass tile with a glossy finish to complement the blue water of your pool, or possibly the more natural & earthy appearance of stone tiles, Poolwerx can meet your needs.
2. New pool coping
Coping is the edge around your swimming pool wall. Today’s high end pools are treated to an upscale coping of thick natural stone. This coping can be irregular to blend nicely with flagstone decking, adapting well to the irregular edges of natural pools and integrating nicely with rocks and boulders. We also offer brick coping for people wanting a more traditional look for their pool. The key is to choose a coping material finished in a way that is most compatible with the decking material.
3. New pool decking
Your pool deck is not only the backdrop for the entire pool but the immediate area around your swimming pool. This is also often called your pool patio, and is where most family members and friends spend the majority of their time lounging on lounge chairs or sitting by the pool. When deciding on what coping you want, you have many different options. Different styles include Cantilever Concrete, Bullnose, Rolled Edge, Precast Coping, Custom Stone and more. You also will need to determine what kind of material you would like. Read more about this here!
4. Patio Decor Improvements
Adding a new awning or shade structure will not only add more interest to the look of your backyard, but will give you the gift of much-needed shade in the hot summer months. Ordering some new loungers, coordinating outdoor sofas, chairs, or other poolside accessories will make your pool look more inviting.
5. Add a Water Feature
There are so many possibilities when it comes to swimming pool water features! Water features can tie together your indoor or outdoor environment to the surrounding landscape and really make it feel like home. The addition of features such as a spillover, fountain or waterfall will certainly class up your pool.
